The town of Ivanić-Grad has a rich history of firefighting.
The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1892, and holds the title of one of the oldest fire brigades in Croatia. At the time of its founding, the society had 54 founding members, and already in 1896 it had 157 members.
The founders were Dr. Juraj Posilović, the archbishop of Zagreb, a native of Ivanić, citizens of Ivanić Salamun Hirst, Heinrich Hirst, Stevan Bosanac, Miron Nikolić, and the Insurance Institute "Croatia". The godmother of the Society's first banner, which is still kept today, was Ana Tučković.
The famous Đuro Deželić from Ivanić, the father of the Croatian fire service, founded the "Zagreb Voluntary Fire Company" in 1868. Thanks to him, the Zagreb City Council founded the "Croatia" cooperative for fire insurance.
The fire station was renovated in 2014, and today it houses the display of the city's firefighting heritage.
The fire tower attracts special attention.
